INTRODUCTION
The Faculty of Biology under the University of Science – Da Lat University enrolled the first academic year in 1959-1960 After the country’s unification in 1976, DaLat University was re-established, the Faculty of Biology was one of the first three faculties to be formed and enrolled the first academic year in 1977-1978
Over more than 60 years of growth and development, the Faculty of Biology has provided education and training to thousands of graduates in biology and biotechnology, contributing to the socio-economic development of the nation. Currently, more than 280 undergraduate students and 28 graduate students are enrolled in the Faculty.

THE MISSION
Training human resources capable of adapting to the rapid changes of science and technology related to Biology in particular and Life Sciences in general. Developing enterprising people to shape the future by inheriting the academic tradition of the Faculty of Biology; create new values that respond to current key changes; contribute to the development of the community through the application of the results of creative research into real life.

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
Currently, the Faculty has 19 staff members, including 01 Associate Professors, 09 PhDs (More than 50 percent of the lecturers graduated from prestige universities in the US, Germany, Japan, Korea and China.), 08 Masters, and 02 Bachelors. In addition, there are 03 PhDs and 02 Master of Science teaching at the faculty but concurrently holding other positions at the university and a team of visiting lecturers who are Professors, Associate Professors, PhDs.
TRANINGS
The Bachelor of Biology and Biotechnology program follows CDIO standards to provide learners with solid knowledge and expertise, professional skills, research capability, creativity, critical thinking skills, and problem-solving skills.
Currently, the Department of Biology – Da Lat University offers the following training programs:
– Bachelor:
- Bachelor in Biotechnology with three majors: Plant biotechnology, Microbial and Food Technology and food, Agricultural biotechnology.
- Bachelor in Biology
- Bachelor in Biological pedagogy
– Master degree:
- Master of Science in Resource Ecology, Master of Experimental Biology
- – Doctorate degree:
- Doctor of Ecology
Training strategy: Training is associated with career orientation for students through cooperation with Research Institutes, Enterprises, etc. The graduates will be equipped with a solid knowledge base, proficient skills to meet the requirements of employers.
Training policy
– Partnering with businesses to get funding/scholarships to support students’ researches and/or positions for professional internships, part-time jobs at various biotechnological fields such as plant resources, mushroom/ vegetables/ flowers cultivation, applications of microbial technology in agriculture, animal husbandry and aquaculture, etc.
– Support graduates to find jobs and/or to continue learning at higher level
INFRASTRUCTURE
There are 4 laboratory complexes in Faculty of Biology – Da Lat University:
- • Foundational Lab.
- • Microbiology Technology Laboratory complex including: Microbiology Laboratory, Microbial technology Lab., Microbiology Experimental area and Fungal Biotechnology Lab.
- • Ecology of Resources Laboratory complex including Animal Laboratory, Plant Resources Laboratory, Mycology Laboratory and Insect Laboratory.
- • Biotechnology Laboratory complex including Molecular Biology Laboratory, Biochemistry Laboratory, Plant Technology Laboratory
- In addition, there are the Museum of Botany, Museum of Entomology and two modern greenhouses, ect to support students to study, research and carry out their practical activities during their study.
