The project “From duckweed to green food – An innovative solution in sustainable agriculture” won the “potential project” award of the startup competition

A group of graduate students and undergraduate students of the Faculty of Biology – Dalat University have just made their mark at the “Innovative Startup Competition in the field of High-Tech Agriculture in 2025” organized by the The Center for Business Incubation of Agricultural High Technology (AHBI) with the startup project “From duckweed to green food – An innovative solution in sustainable agriculture” under the scientific advice of Assoc.Prof.Dr. Hoang Thi Nhu Phuong (Faculty of Biology, Dalat University). The project has clear economic and environmental significance when taking advantage of available, low-cost duckweed resources to produce nutritious green feed for livestock, helping to reduce feed costs, increase efficiency in water surface area use and open up livelihood and business opportunities for farmers and cooperatives. At the same time, controlled collection and cultivation of duckweed contributes to limiting pollution, improving water quality, reducing the amount of organic waste released into the environment and moving towards a circular economic model in agriculture.

From more than 220 competing projects, the group successively passed the preliminary round, semi-finals and excellently entered the Top 20 final projects, and was awarded the “Potential Project” Award by the Jury.

This achievement is not only a recognition of the research and creative efforts of the students and graduate students, but also affirms the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship of the Faculty of Biology and Dalat University, linking professional knowledge with products of practical application value and environmental friendliness.

Congratulations to the project team and instructors! Hopefully in the coming time, the project will continue to be completed, commercialized and spread the spirit of science and technology entrepreneurship in the student community of Dalat University.
